Two Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

These detentions follow a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people hurt by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - which police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
